Driving Change with the 2025 Lewis & Hunter Contractors Cambrian Rally

Carbon Positive Motorsport supports the 2025 Lewis & Hunter Contractors Cambrian Rally as it returns to North Wales’ iconic forest stages – proving that speed and sustainability can go hand in hand.

The Cambrian Rally marks one of the final major gravel tests of the British rally season, and for Carbon Positive Motorsport it’s an important opportunity to support another leading event taking action on sustainability.

Based in North Wales and running through some of the country’s most famous forests, the rally is known for fast, technical stages that demand accuracy and commitment from every crew.

Now approaching its 70th year, the event remains a cornerstone of the British rally calendar. It attracts a strong entry across the British Rally Championship, BTRDA, Welsh Championship and ANWCC series, with competitors tackling classic gravel stages.

The stages offer a real test of driver skill and car setup, with rough, slippery surfaces and ever-changing grip levels. Success on the Cambrian comes from balance – pushing hard enough to stay competitive while avoiding the damage that sharp stone edges and loose rock can cause.

For Carbon Positive Motorsport, this is another chance to help demonstrate that motorsport can move towards a lower-carbon future while maintaining its competitive edge. Once again, the event’s emissions will be mitigated by accredited UK-based projects, including sites in Wales that restore native habitats and improve biodiversity. These projects bring measurable benefits for wildlife and resilience, while ensuring that the rally leaves a lasting positive legacy.

“As an event, we’re incredibly pleased to continue our work with Carbon Positive Motorsport – a partnership that’s now in its fourth year,” said Matt Jackson, Deputy Safety Officer for the event.

“We’re fortunate to have some of the best scenery and green spaces in the UK here in North Wales, and it’s important that our rally contributes positively to that environment. By mitigating the carbon use of not only the competing vehicles but also the official vehicles, we’re strengthening our responsibility to the Conwy and Llandudno areas.

“We’re also passionate about supporting local businesses – from using local suppliers throughout the event to mitigating emissions in ways that directly benefit Welsh projects through Carbon Positive Motorsport. With a bumper entry for the 2025 Lewis & Hunter Contractors Cambrian Rally, the event’s positive impact on the local area is greater than ever.”

This year’s rally also carries championship significance. With the British and Welsh titles approaching their conclusion, competition will be close across the classes. Consistency and smart driving are often rewarded here – the stages are demanding, and many crews have seen strong results disappear with punctures or minor mistakes. For Carbon Positive Motorsport ambassadors and supported competitors, the focus will be on clean runs and solid finishes to round off their seasons on a high.

Spectators can look forward to the familiar mix of open and technical forest stages, and to the ceremonial start and finish in Llandudno, which remains one of the most spectator-friendly points on the route. With extensive TV and online coverage, the event continues to showcase how rallying in the UK is evolving – combining world-class competition with a stronger awareness of its environmental responsibilities.

The 2025 Lewis & Hunter Contractors Cambrian Rally takes place on Saturday 25 October, based in Llandudno with stages across North Wales’ iconic forests.
