Get Connected Rali Ceredigion will offset a minimum of 33,000kg of CO2e from this year’s event.
Get Connected Rali Ceredigion will offset a minimum of 33,000kg of CO2e, as part of the event's range of ground-breaking environmental initiatives. The figure also represents the largest level of carbon offsetting so far achieved by any rally in the UK to date.
This year’s event will also be the first in the UK to run under the FIA's new environmental management accreditation, with significant efforts having been made by the organisers to reduce the event's carbon footprint, and promote lower carbon transport alternatives. This level of offsetting complements their approach to reduce emissions, by mitigating the unavoidable carbon emissions generated by running the event.
2019 winner Osian Pryce will be looking to repeat that victory in his challenge for the British Rally Championship.
Leading the field of entrants is Carbon Positive Motorsport brand ambassador Osian Pryce with Noel O’Sullivan in their VW Polo RC2, with fellow brand ambassador Garry Pearson with Dale Furniss in their Ford Fiesta RC2 seeded at number 10.
Garry Pearson will be looking to repeat his form on tarmac this year that saw him win the recent McRae Rally Challenge.
Both will be joined on the British Rally Championship round again by Junior British Rally Championship challengers Kyle Whyte and Sean Topping in their Peugeot 208 R4, who compete for the second time this year as event ambassadors for Carbon Positive Motorsport.
After a disappointing retirement when in contention for the Junior BRC honours on the previous rounds Grampian Forest Rally, Kyle Whyte will be looking to out his championship challenge back on track at Rali Ceredigion.
Carbon Positive Motorsport CEO Steve Smith commented, "We are delighted to be working with Rali Ceredigion and to contribute to such a landmark rally in the UK. The rally is using our new End to End Event Carbon Offsetting service as part of a wide range of sustainability initiatives. Their commitment to offset the average estimated carbon emissions for the whole entry has led to the event achieving the highest level of certified carbon offsetting ever in any UK rally.
"I’m very impressed by the organiser’s efforts in their environmental action plan, and I’m sure this will serve as a good example and motivation for other events in the UK in the future."
To further reduce the event's environmental impact, Carbon Positive Motorsport are also offering all Get Connected Rali Ceredigion competitors and spectators a 20% discount on their standard web shop prices, to encourage all travelling to the event to help bring a greater positive environmental impact.
Any purchases made on our website between the 1st and 8th of September using the event specific discount code GCRC22S will be attributed in the name of the event, with the aim of further increasing the offsetting level achieved.
It only costs a little to make a big difference for the sport, so whether you're a competitor or spectator, why not join with us to help make motorsport sustainable.
