A weekend of sunshine and high-speed action saw the Voly Grampian Forest Rally return to Aberdeenshire on 8 and 9 August, delivering world-class competition on some of Scotland’s quickest and most rewarding gravel stages.

The forests of Aberdeenshire provided the perfect stage for the Voly Grampian Forest Rally, with fast, flowing tests that challenged crews to the limit. As a key round of both the British Rally Championship and Scottish Rally Championship, the event attracted a strong entry and plenty of spectators, all enjoying the action in warm summer sunshine.

Community access to the rally was once again high on the agenda in Banchory and together with a new spectator special stage in Kintore brought the buzz of competition closer to the public than ever. Fans were treated to an up-close view of the cars at full pace, creating an electric atmosphere and helping to showcase rallying to a wider audience.

For Carbon Positive Motorsport, the rally also marked another successful year of partnership with the organisers. Competitors in our event carbon offsetting programme balanced 200% of their event-related emissions, supporting our world-class UK rewilding projects, including the restoration of native woodlands near Loch Ness. This long-standing relationship shows how the rally can showcase the best of UK rallying while leading by example in reducing motorsport’s environmental impact with over 18,000kg Co2e of Carbon offsetting enabled by those competitors voluntarily participating in the event scheme.

From the opening stage, William Creighton and co-driver Liam Regan seized control in their Toyota Yaris GR Rally2, winning the BRC round by 32.5 seconds from Max McRae and Cameron Fair in a Citroën C3 Rally2, a landmark result as McRae claimed his first British Rally Championship podium. A further 10.2 seconds back, Meirion Evans and Dale Furniss completed the BRC top three in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

Among the standout performances, Carbon Positive Motorsport ambassador Matthew Hirst, in his Å koda Fabia R5 with co-driver Declan Dear, delivered an assured and consistent drive to finish 8th overall in a strong BRC field. His result underlines his growing pace at national level and his commitment to combining top-level competition with climate action.

In the Scottish Rally Championship field, David Bogie and Kirsty Riddick took the win in their Å koda Fabia RS Rally2, finishing 42.9 seconds ahead of Scott Beattie and Peredur Davies in a Ford Fiesta R5. Mark McCulloch and Michael Hendry took third in their Proton Satria Evo, a further 18.4 seconds back.

The Voly Grampian Forest Rally once again proved why it is a highlight of the summer rally calendar, delivering world-class competition, a warm welcome, and a commitment to protecting the spectacular forests that define it.
