The world's most powerful motorsport is offsetting their carbon emissions, with the help of Carbon Positive Motorsport.
Underscoring their commitment to environmental responsibility, the North West Tractor Pulling Club (NWTPC) successfully offset 8 tonnes of carbon emissions in 2024, marking the second year of their partnership with Carbon Positive Motorsport. In addition, the STPC and UK Truck and Tractor Pull have also offset their events with us, meaning that all British Tractor Pulling Association Championship events are now offsetting their unavoidable carbon emissions.

Known as the world’s most powerful motorsport, the top teams compete with over 12,000 horsepower to pull a weight transfer sledge along a 100 metre track. As the sledge is pulled along, the weight is transferred to the front of the sledge, making it heavier. The winner is the machine that can pull the sledge the furthest.

The sport has many varied classes from single engined 950kg Modifieds, to multi-engined 4.5 tonne machines. This class is the most powerful in the tractor pulling world, seeing engine combinations like five V8s, three V12 aircraft engines or four turbines. Horsepowers over 12,000 are not uncommon.
Formed in 1978, the NWTPC runs Tractor Pulling events at a purpose built track at Great Eccleston, near Blackpool.
Club Chairman Tom Beattie commented "The world of tractor pulling has been taking action to reduce our environmental impact, and at the NWTPC we are very happy to continue to work with Carbon Positive Motorsport to offset our unavoidable emmisions.
"With the introduction of HVO Fuel, offsetting, no single use plastics and more recycling, we are working hard to make a positive impact for our countryside.
"Our sport has its roots firmly in agriculture and farming, where caring for the land and environment is a key ethos, and we want to continue that trait as our sport moves into the 21st century."

Paul Glass, founder of Carbon Positive Motorsport, added, "We are delighted to continue to support this thrilling sport and continue to be impressed by how seriously NWTPC take their environmental responsibilities.
"Although the sport has moved to using more sustainable fuels like HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil), which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%, we are assisting NWPTC to offset their remaining unavoidable emissions.*
Fans can witness these impressive machines in action at the Great Eccleston Showground during the August Bank Holiday weekend, from 22nd to 24th August 2025. The club is proud to host the final round of the ETPC Eurocup and BTPA Championships Finals.
