AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally Preview

March 3, 2023

The AM Phillip Snowman Rally to offset a minimum of 16,000KG CO2e from this year’s event.

The AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally will offset a minimum of 16,000Kg CO2e, with the majority of the 101 strong entry competing with their carbon emissions being offset by Carbon Positive Motorsport in the second year of their partnership with the event.

The high-quality field this year brings several of the UK’s leading drivers, such as last weekend’s East Riding Stages Rally winner David Henderson and Stephen Petch to compete against the regular scottish competitors.

Due to the large and high-quality entry, the event will also have eight Carbon Positive Motorsport ambassadors such as Jock Armstrong, John Wink and Angus Lawrie out in action and supporting the events promotion of its environmental plans.

Joining this group is a rare appearance by Carbon Positive Motorsport ambassador, and last year’s Mull Rally winner, Paul McKinnon. It’s a sign of the high standard of drivers that Paul is seeded at car 15 – for sure this year’s event is lining up to be a cracker, with several drivers with a chance of outright victory.

Carbon Positive motorsport brand ambassador and winner of last year’s Mull Rally, Paul MacKinnon makes a surprise appearance on the event.

Snowman Clerk of the Course, Andy Jardine commented, "It's great to have Carbon Positive Motorsport working with us again to allow our competitors to choose to offset their carbon emissions. Having such a good response from the competitors also allows us to offset the carbon from our safety vehicles as they travel round the stages making sure everything and everyone is ready for the action. 16,000kg Co2e makes a real difference and we’re proud as an event to help tackle the climate emergency in our own way."

Carbon Positive Motorsport event ambassador Brian Ross said, " I'm really looking forward the 2023 Snowman Rally. This will be my 9th Snowman Rally as a driver. The Snowman has always been one of the best events in the calendar with some of the best stages in the country. It’s great to see over 100 competitors heading into the forest and we hope to have a great support out spectating as always.

"This shall be the 3rd year I have supported Carbon Positive Motorsport. and it has been great to see that majority of competitors on this year’s event have opted to do the same. CPM has been a ground-breaking project through its carbon offsetting and additional support to the rally community and events throughout the UK.

"I understand the benefits from the work Paul and Steve are doing. Not only is carbon offsetting of great importance and benefit to the environment, but the positive effects it has on promoting the sport cannot be underestimated."

Carbon Positive Motorsport founder Paul Glass added, "We are in for a very memorable Snowman Rally this year. I’ve just returned from last weekend's incredible East Riding Stages Rally where we worked with the event, and to see the speed of ERSR winner David Henderson will make this year’s rally another thrilling competion at the front I’m sure.

"It’s the one opportunity I get to take my boys out to my local stages and give them a chance to watch rallying close up. For me what we are doing is really to ensure future generations such as them, can enjoy the sport and the environment - I know they are already very excited. I wish all competitors and spectators a safe and enjoyable rally’’.

Mike Moates will compete for the second Snowman Rally with his carbon emissions being offset.
