AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally partners with Carbon Positive Motorsport

The AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally partners with Carbon Positive Motorsport, to provide carbon offsetting for this year’s event.

The AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally will be the first Scottish Rally Championship event of 2022 to take steps to minimise its carbon footprint, through certified carbon offsetting projects.

Carbon Positive Motorsport was launched last year and provided offsetting to competitors at all levels of the sport, including current British Rally champion Matt Edwards, former Scottish Rally Champion Jock Armstrong and the 2021 Scottish Ladies Rally Champion Ashleigh Morris.

The company, who provide carbon offsetting for motorsport events, teams, competitors, and spectators, will arrange carbon positive levels of offsetting for all the rally organisation vehicles on the event itself. This level of offsetting provides 25% more carbon offsetting in the future, than is generated today through the fuel use associated with their participation.

To further reduce the event's environmental impact, Carbon Positive Motorsport are also offering all competitors and spectators a 20% discount on their standard web shop prices, to encourage all to help the event bring a positive environmental impact.

Snowman Rally Clerk of the Course Andy Jardine said: “Rallying has to move with the times and expects to be challenged on its green credentials as the world comes to terms with climate change. Until such time that electric vehicles are commonplace in motorsport, we have to accept that the best option available is to offset the fossil fuel used. This year is our first step on this journey of offsetting, and we look forward to working with Carbon Positive Motorsport to make a difference.”

Carbon Positive Motorsport director, and former Snowman Rally competitor, Paul Glass, said:

‘We are delighted to support this year’s event and live up to our purpose to help make motorsport sustainable for future generations to enjoy. Wherever possible we work with an event by using local rewilding-based offsetting projects and not overseas schemes. These high quality projects create greater environmental benefits than offsetting alone. I’m pleased that we will be supporting the Snowman Rally using Woodland Carbon Code certified projects based at Loch Ness’’.

From 28/2/22 until 7/3/22 the 20% discount can be redeemed at carbonpositivemotorsport.com using the following codes:

Competitors SR22C or Spectators SR22S.
