New 200% carbon positive offsetting

Carbon Positive Motorsport launches new carbon positive offsetting levels for events and competitors.

 

Carbon Positive Motorsport are the world’s first dedicated carbon offsetting provider for motorsport, with the goal to help make motorsport and the environment more sustainable for future generations to enjoy.

The global climate crisis brings increased environmental awareness and challenges to everyone, and especially so for those involved in motorsport. Public perception of our sport and its impact on the environment is one of the greatest risks our sport faces.

Despite technological advances in the elite levels of motorsport, most events and competitors will continue to use combustible fuels which generate unavoidable carbon emissions. The introduction and use of more sustainable fuels will reduce the levels of emissions emitted in motorsport competition. However carbon neutral fuels remain far away before becoming widely available and economically viable for all to use.

Reducing emissions will not address climate change alone. To make it possible to slow down and reverse climate change, we also need to capture more of the carbon that already exists in the atmosphere. By capturing carbon with nature-based solutions, we can create additional environmental benefits such as improved water quality and biodiversity.

New carbon positive offsetting levels for events and competitors.

In response to this Carbon Positive Motorsport has launched a new carbon positive offsetting level that will enable events and competitors to increase their offsetting level from 125% to 200% positive, using a combination of world class International and UK Woodland Carbon Code certified carbon offsetting projects, at comparably the same costs allowing for inflation.

These projects and our positive offsetting level will provide events and competitors with an impactful, and relatively low-cost local solution to a global problem. By providing offsetting using carbon reduction units’ competitors and events will now be able to communicate and promote that they have already 100% offset their carbon footprint, and that over time that offsetting level will increase to 200% as the UK projects develop and mature.

Our projects remain based on properly verified and certified nature-based solutions such as reforestation or rewilding, however our new model will make it possible to embrace suitable technology-based carbon offsetting projects - which can greatly accelerate carbon reduction or capture in the future.
